Head of Shared Services compliance, EMEA policy & training and projects

As part of the EMEA Compliance COO team, the role’s core responsibilities are to work with the EMEA Compliance COO to manage, co-ordinate and assist with strategic Global and Regional Compliance initiatives, review & enhance internal departmental procedures/practices and assume responsibility for the Head of Shared Services Compliance function.  You will be expected to become involved in all aspects of project work designed to continually improve the operational efficiency of the COO team and the Compliance Department.  This will include, but not be limited to, Management Information, Regulatory returns & fees, Policy, Training and Outsourcing.     As the Head of Shared Services Compliance, you will also be responsible for developing business relationships with the Heads of the Shared Services departments (e.g. Finance and Operations), dealing with day to day Compliance queries from Shared services and implementing a Shared Services Compliance training & review plan.   MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Candidate will be expected to undertake this role for a minimum of two to three years. In that time, it is expected that the candidate will form strong working relationships with the EMEA Compliance teams, learn the businesses and the Credit Suisse approach to compliance with regulatory requirements and become familiar with the processes owned by the COO team. Candidate will be expected to gain an understanding of how Credit Suisse is organised, which businesses we are involved with and our regulatory risk appetite and quickly establish strong relationships with the Heads of Shared Services. Candidate must be able to deal effectively and confidently with senior management. Candidate will also be expected to become involved in and subsequently lead projects to completion. At first this will be under supervision, but a successful candidate will be able to manage their own time and projects quickly. Candidate will be expected to play a leading role in the COO team, both in relation to managing an individual team within the group and making an effective contribution to the management of the wider Compliance department.  Candidate must be able to effectively manage others, in relation to specific tasks and projects as well as general work matters.  The ability to deal with competing priorities, drive results and meet deadlines is a prerequisite.  Candidate will need to display the following attributes:• Excellent and proven management skills, both people and project.• Able to communicate effectively and build relationships quickly with the wider Compliance group• Enjoy working as part of a team but with ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.• Ability to deal with competing priorities while still driving results and meeting deadlines• Ability to confidently deal with senior management • Hard working and not afraid of a challenge or change• Knows own limitations and escalates appropriately• Exercises excellent business judgement• Has high ethical and control standards, commensurate with working in a control function• Self starter• Willing to undergo on-the-job and more formal training for career development SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:• Essential: Strong academic record• Desirable: Degree level education and relevant professional or industry qualification• Essential: Articulate both orally and in writing• Essential: Relevant previous experience in the financial services industry, at an investment bank, regulator or exchange• Essential: Considerable Compliance experience• Essential: Thorough and methodical approach and exercises sound judgement. Knowledge of FSA rules and regulations. .
